Did you know that Urban Dynamics was established in 1986 by 3 young town planners that previously worked for the TPA Community Development Branch. The company was first called Van Zyl, Attwell & De Kock and founding members were Rocco de Kock, Jim van Zyl and Russel Attwell. It was the first private planning consultancy that focussed on the so-called “bottom-up” approach to planning with community participation as integral part of the planning process. The company initially operated from a garage in a house in Germiston and later moved to 27 Kinross Street, Germiston - close to the current Ekurhuleni municipal offices.   By 1995 the company merged with two other town planning firms to form the Urban Dynamics Group. It constructed a new head office in Bedfordview and expanded within only 3 years to a total of 11 branch offices throughout Southern Africa . The year 2011 marks the 25^th Birthday of Urban Dynamics and all involved with the comany are proud to be part of this ongoing legacy.
